Black Forest Porridge

Essential ingredients

120g oats

360ml milk

1/2 tin black pitted cherries (in syrup)

2 squares dark chocolate, melted

Handful walnuts (optional)


  1. Take a large handful of the cherries (around 10 cherries) and chop them into small pieces.
  2. Pour the oats and milk into a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer until thick and creamy, around 10 minutes. Mid way through cooking, add in the cherry pieces, along with some of the syrup from the tin. Stir well.
  3. Serve with the melted chocolate, some more tinned/frozen cherries, and some chopped nuts if you like!
