Strawberry French Toast
Sticky and sweet, and all made with store cupboard ingredients you’ve already got. Topped with warm strawberry compote, yoghurt and syrup, this is your new favourite breakfast I’m telling you!

Ingredients
120ml milk
1 tbsp cornstarch or flour
1 tsp vanilla essence
2-4 slices bread
2 tbsp butter, for frying
150g + 4 individual strawberries
1 tsp cinnamon
To serve:
yogurt, maple syrup
Method
1.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, cornstarch and vanilla essence until smooth. Chop the 4 strawberries into small pieces.

Add some butter/margarine to a large frying pan over a medium heat. Place one slice of bread into the batter to soak up, flip over and soak for a few more seconds.
3.
Add 1-2 slices of bread to the pan, press a few small strawberry pieces into the bread cook for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Flip over and cook on the second side for a few minutes.

Repeat to cook all the French toast.
5.
Meanwhile, chop the 150g strawberries and add to a saucepan with a splash of water and the cinnamon. Warm for 5 minutes or until soft and warmed through.
6.
Serve the French toast topped with the warm strawberry compote and any other toppings.
